Environmental Impact Assessment Center of Beijing Normal University (GHPZJ Zi No.1056) is one of the first institutes with state grade A qualification for environmental impact assessment (hereinafter referred to as EIA), which is issued by State Environmental Protection Administration, as well as one of the first institutes with the assessment qualification for acceptance of environmental protection of completion of works and the assessment qualification for environmental protection impact of planning. As the professional institute of environmental protection of Beijing Normal University, the Center owns high technical powder, completed range of subjects and state leading experts of EIA. We have about 30 employees, including 25 ones with the work license of EIA and 10 engineers of EIA.

Generally, the Center is technically supported by the School of Environment, Beijing Normal University. As the state kernel institute for research and practice of EIA, the School of Environment, Beijing Normal University has held the first International Conference for EIA in China (1987), completed the first state project of EIA and the first project of EIA of planning, and achieved high academic status and excellent reputation in the international field of EIA.

The main business covers EIA of strategy, EIA of planning, report of social regional environmental impact and the report of environmental impact of general project. The EIA center has undertaken and completed more than 300 national, provincial and municipal projects of EIA, including EIA of strategy, EIA of planning, EIA of construction projects and relevant researches of EIA in the fields of regional development, water conservancy and hydropower, transportation, construction, municipal public engineering, pipeline transportation and extraction, etc. Our research achievements have been widely recognized by experts and peers, and got national and provincial awards for science and technology.

To the fields of EIA of strategy and planning, our center has developed a great amount of work for research and practice, built up a completed theory and method system for EIA of strategy and planning, and completed projects of EIA of strategy and planning, which mainly include EIA of strategy of China Western Development, EIA of regional strategy of Daxing District, Beijing City, EIA of regional development strategy of Tongzhou District, Beijing City, EIA of planning of Fushan Industrial Park, Zhuhai City, EIA of planning of water diversion project of Middle Yunnan Province, EIA of development and planning of Nansha Area, Guangzhou City, etc., which were highly praised by state competent departments and owner units.
